Drama Review: Athena Goddess of War

Athena is a Korean drama spinoff after the successful hit "Iris". The storyline takes place a few years after Iris. A few characters from Iris return, but most of the main characters are new. Iris 2 is supposedly scheduled to start shooting after Athena is finished. Iris 2 will also bring back all of the original cast back.

The synopsis of the story is about a secret society named Athena that is trying to control world energy with a newly invented technology. The scientist that developed the tech, is being secured by NTS (National Anti Terror Service) - and there are different groups trying to snatch him away.

I've watched up to episode 10.. and it seems like the series will lead up to episode 16. From the looks of the cast, cars, explosions, scenery, etc.. they went all out on production. I imagine it cost a few million just for the first episode.

If i had to pick, Iris was better - but Athena is very well worth watching.

The cast is awesome. The female leads are:


Lee Ji Ah

and


Soo Ae

Soo Ae comes out as the stronger female role and as Jung Woo Sung's love interest. I was hoping Lee Ji Ah would get that role, but it doesn't make a big different. Both actresses do an excellent job.

Lastly, the OST for this drama resembles it's predecessor. For Iris, they had a hit with Baek Ji Young's "Dont Forget". Athena has Tae Yeon from SNSD singing "I Love You":

These two quotes go hand in hand. How? Guy continues to disappoint girl.. girl loves him so she overlooks all his faults. Girl finally gets sick of it and finds someone else. Guy is heartbroken because he knows his been replaced.

Moral of the story?

Commitment can be hard because of the fear that you will disappoint your partner. But unless you want to be forever alone, you will need to take that leap. Once you are there, try your hardest to not disappoint. Don't take your current relationship for granted.

After some criticism over their last 2 hit songs, "Magic" and "Madonna", for sounding too similar - Secret is back with a whole new look and sound. The beat is catchy, but the MV makes the song. Cute outfits, and cute dance choreography.

Three Decades Old..

Nothing feels different. 30 is over rated.

Although, the day before my bday the city of Cerritos decided I was so important that they took a picture of me making a right turn. I made a complete stop, but i may have been slightly over the limit line (like 1 inch).. let's hope for the best. Worst case scenario i'm going to court.

The day after my bday, i hit a piece of debris on the road.

What a way to start 2011. Maybe i'm just getting rid of all the bad stuff now, so good things happen later?

The best chips in the world!

When i was a kid, i used to go to "House of Bagels" in the morning before school to eat their "All in One" Bagels with light cream cheese. The bagel was seasoned with literally everything (onions, garlic, salt, etc). The amazing thing was that it tasted delicious!

Trader Joe's made a smart move, and turned those bagels into baked chips. If you haven't tried them, i highly recommend them.

Celebrity Review: Ham Eun Jung (함은정)

First post on this lovely new year 2011. Today is actually 1/1/11, which is pretty interesting. I've been saving this blog post for quite some time as i wanted to write about it on a special day. Today seemed like a good fit to start out this new year.

Eun Jung is part of the group T-Ara and was born Dec. 12, 1988; which makes her 22. She originally started out acting and appeared in many MV's and K-drama's. She was the leader of T-ara until a few months ago, when their media agency decided to bring a new member (making it a 7 girl group) and making her the new leader. Although there were many rumors behind the changes, it might be because of Eun Jung's schedule and her priority in acting.
